Finally, I think the cause for not getting it running right from the start was the fact that I thought enabling remote debugging is not required, as I run VS Code and PHP on the same machine. To get debugging working, I had an additional look at Marco Rivas’ tutorial “ How to debug PHP using Visual Studio Code“. Get ready to Debug PHPĪs my favorite PHP editor Visual Studio Code does not support PHP debugging out of the box, I installed Felix Becker’s PHP Extension Pack plus Xdebug. Since it isn’t the best idea to do development against a production environment, I first installed WordPress, and all required components to run WordPress on a Windows 10 development machine, locally, using WampServer, following wpbeginner’s tutorial, and managed to bypass the database connection error, which occurred when trying to install WordPress.
